Name limits and compatibility

Character limits for Instagram, WhatsApp, Free Fire and BGMI were researched in October 2026 and are dated on the pages where they appear. Apps can change these limits at any time, and some apps count a styled letter as two characters.

Styled names use Unicode characters. Some phones, apps or older systems cannot display every character and show empty boxes instead. Always test a styled name, for example by pasting it in a chat, before you use it somewhere important.

Accessibility of styled text

Screen readers often read styled Unicode letters one by one or skip them. If people who use screen readers need to read your name, keep a plain version of it somewhere visible, such as in your bio.
